I did it twice and both cards looked black until very close to the center of eye level. The first card was black and the second card was red. Fun stuff.

I don't really see why this is supposed to be an interesting case study though. Our peripherals aren't exactly a paradigm case of sensory accuracy. I can look up optical illusions all day and be entertained with hours of being misled by my experiences. Or go to a magic show. Lots of fun. But why would I think that experiencing something that's known to be illusory or a limitation is relevantly similar to hundrum cases of perception or introspection? That's what makes them fun is how different they are.

I guess it depends on which instance of “me” counts as the one that matters concerning the immediacy of which qualia. I’m not sure if it matters that I’m wrong about being in pain when the pain hurts. This is precisely why Galen Strawson is rumored to have wanted to give Dan a swift kick in the shin under the table every time this came up. “We can now safely assume your shin is red today, and black and blue tomorrow. No peripheral vision needed, Dan.”
